Transmission Service

Manual Transmission & Clutch:

In order to get full service life out of your manual transmission the oil must be changed at manufacturer prescribed intervals, kept at the full mark and all leaking seals must be replaced.

Your clutch gently transfers power from your engine to the gearbox when starting and changing gears. It’s a disk

made from friction material and a pressure plate assembly and should last about 60,000- 150,000 km’s depending on car and the way you drive. Since the clutch is bolted internally on the flywheel of your car, it is replaced when a fault like slippage or shudder occurs. However externally there is a clutch hydraulic master and slave cylinder or clutch cable that will be checked for leaks/binding during a regular service. It is also important that the master cylinder clutch fluid reservoir is regularly topped up to the full mark with the appropriate brake fluid.

Automatic Transmission:

Transmission Oil and filter must be changed strictly as per manufacturer schedule and seals should be checked for leaks. Also the transmission oil level should always be full for proper operation and replenished as necessary.

Loss of Automatic transmission oil is always caused by leaks so if you have to replenish this fluid is best to get it checked out ASAP. Use correct fluid and do not overfill as this can cause damage to the transmission.

If your automatic transmission is not regularly maintained then you risk serious failure, which may require a rebuild costing thousands of dollars.
